Online Jazz (vernacular) Dance Lesson Video: Sak's Shim Sham No.4

Lesson Preview

Lesson Info

In this Shim Sham variation lesson (part 4 of 6), Sakarias takes you through the third main phrase, where the Tackie Annies normally occur, and adds some big stylistic variations plus a big fat kick. This Shim Sham adds some flash to the original, borrowing some inspiration from the Al Minns version for a nice distinctive alternative to a classic routine.

Instructor Bio

Harlem Hot Shots is artistic, professional and re-creative. All of the company's activities are inspired by the ideals of the Swing Era, focusing on faithful reconstructions and a framework that is true to the period. No modernizing. No compromising. Instead, the music, dances, costumes and overall presentation all emanate directly from genuine sources, such as authentic material from old film clips as well as many meetings with dancers and musicians who were active in the USA during the 1930s and 40s. No intermediaries or distortions. No superficial adaptations or transparent cliches. Simply pure swing.
