Mike Roberts (Austin, TX, United States)

Styles: Vintage Dances, Partner Charleston, Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, Authentic Jazz, Blues
Teaches with: Laura Glaess
Available lessons: 74

Mike Roberts has been teaching since 2001 and has been dancing Lindy Hop and associated dances including Balboa, Charleston, Shag, and East Coast Swing since 2000. A great deal of Mike's success can be attributed to his vivid imagination. He admits to pretending he's a superhero like Colossus or Spiderman before he lifts weights (or his partner). It really helps your ability to keep up with a 250 bpm song if you can leap tall buildings in a single bound. He believes that the most important thing in dancing is listening to your partner and having fun. No matter how much technique you have, if you're not having fun with it, there's no point.

Laura Glaess (Austin, TX, United States)

Styles: Vintage Dances, Partner Charleston, Jitterbug, Lindy Hop, Authentic Jazz, Blues
Teaches with: Andrew Sutton, Bill Borgida, Mike Roberts
Available lessons: 97

Laura learned her dancing basics from a group of Lindy enthusiasts while at Trinity University in San Antonio. Since then she has been heavily involved in efforts to promote this style of dance to the community. For the past three years she has been teaching Lindy dance lessons. "The most important aspect of dancing to me," Laura says "is the ability to reach out for your partner and let them know everything that is going on inside of you and making sure that you pick up on everything that is going on inside of him. It's like the best conversation you've ever had."
